Jeffery Hiltner was born in Melrose to Alphonse G. and Donna Mae W. (Olmscheid) Hiltner. He graduated from Melrose High School and attended Rasmussen Business College for two years. He was employed by his brother's construction company, WJH Construction, Anoka, for two years. He was currently employed by DKD Construction in Melrose. He also was in the Army National Guard in Sauk Centre. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Leo's Court Catholic Order of Foresters, New Munich baseball team and New Munich Jaycees. The deceased was born 89 years ago in Irlbach, Bavaria. In 1848, he came with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he stayed for ten years and then came to settle on a farm near New Munich, where he has since lived, assembling a large circle of friends who now join the family in mourning the passing of good father Hiltner. On Monday, the Rev. M. Hiltner, pastor of Mt. Carmel in North Dakota, came here and officiated at a solemn requiem high mass for his expired grandfather, who was consigned to his final rest on Tuesday morning, after a beautiful and moving eulogy delivered by our pastor, Fr. The death of Michael Hiltner, well known and highly respected resident of this city, occurred at his home Friday August 11th [1933]. Death was due to complications with which he had been ailing for over twenty years. The funeral was held Monday morning at the St. Boniface church with Rev. J. Willenbrink officiating. Before forced to the sanatorium because of ill health, Mr. Hiltner was a stone cutter for a St. Cloud firm. He was particularly active in Catholic social functions, and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
